About us

Blueprint Driving School is built on experience, patience and a straightforward approach to teaching people how to drive safely and confidently.

About Kal

Kalp, the founder and driving instructor at Blueprint Driving School, qualified as a driving instructor in February 2000 and has been teaching ever since.

With over 20 years of experience, he has worked with learners and drivers of all ages, backgrounds and ability levels. This experience has allowed him to recognise that no two people learn in the same way, and to adapt lessons to suit the individual rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.

Over the years, Kalp has taught a wide range of people, including:

His teaching experience has also extended to individuals from professional and performance-based backgrounds, including Team GB acrobats, a Hollywood actor, a West End theatre performer, an international music artist and an F4 racing driver.

Professional Background

Before starting Blueprint Driving School, Kalp spent the majority of his career working with the AA Driving School. During this time, he worked not only as an instructor but also as a local coach, overseeing and supporting more than 45 other instructors.

This role involved:

He was also one of the first instructors to work with RED Driving School when it was established in 1999.

In addition, Kalp has carried out driver assessments and training for organisations including Royal Mail and Tesco, and in 2017 became one of only 50 Motability-trained instructors in the UK.

Blueprint Driving School Areas Covered

Areas Taught

Most of Kalp’s early career was spent teaching across Essex and East London, with time also spent working in South-East London.

Five years ago, he relocated to Kingston, where he now teaches across South West London, Surrey and surrounding areas.

This range of locations has given him experience teaching in both inner-city and suburban environments, as well as on a wide variety of road types and traffic conditions.

Learning Approach

Lessons are calm, structured and adapted to suit the individual.

There is no pressure to rush, and progress is based on understanding and confidence rather than ticking boxes. Particular care is taken with nervous or anxious drivers, allowing confidence to build gradually and naturally.

The aim is not just to help people pass a test, but to help them feel capable and confident driving independently.
